ON "AUGURIES OF INNOCENCE"

"Patti Smith’s poems from Auguries of Innocence have a timeless, heraldic, and Blakeian voice, complemented in Ziegler’s installation by an umbrella skeleton found in the trash, poems on stained rice paper that spall off the ribs, and shroud- like bookbinder’s gauze, as well as shadows on the wall."
From the exhibit catalog, Looseleaf, SOIL Gallery, 2011.

On 'Auguries of Innocence', found umbrella, inkjet printed and stained rice paper, red thread.
72" circumference x 84" high, 2011. Poetry by Patti Smith, with permission.
